Our Programs

The Psychology Department offers two undergraduate degrees (B.A. and B.S.) and a minor in psychology. The B.A. program offers a broad background on the subject, while the B.S. program is designed for close study of specialized areas. We also offer a multidisciplinary minor in Gerontology and a certificate in Child Advocacy Studies.

In the Classroom

With class sizes for advanced students of between 12 and 30 students, psychology majors have the opportunity to get to know faculty members. In addition, every each declared student is matched with a faculty adviser based on academic interests and career goals.

Beyond the Classroom

Our department provides undergraduates with opportunities usually only offered to graduate students. Internships, student organizations, and advanced research projects help prepare our students for graduate school and rewarding career opportunities.

Our Graduates

Our students excel.  Since 2003, six of our majors have received the Buffalo State President's Award, the highest award given by our college to a graduating senior.  Eighteen have received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Undergraduate Student Excellence, the highest award given by SUNY. You will find our alumni in graduate programs and in the field here in Buffalo and around the nation.
